“Erudite 2019” – Viļānu secondary school

On 17 April, a four-game cycle of the competition “eruditis 2019” was concluded. This year, Rezekne and Viļānu, a student team, sought answers to questions about Latvian art – literature, cinema, theatre, painting, architecture and music.
Ten teams participated in the competition – one team from Kaunatas, Viļānu, Dricānu, Tiskad, Eastern Latgale technology and L. Ranāne McAsian positions in secondary schools, as well as two from Maltas and Nautrēnu secondary schools.
Also this year, “Erudites” continued to know Latvia, so the subject of the competition is “Latvian art”. During the four games, the participants responded to questions about Latvian writers, musicians, painters, actors, architectural styles, songs performers, phrases from films. The pupils had to know, for example, that MR F. Beard's home is Lejenieki, that Alexander Chaka's real name is Chadarainis, that the work of “surveyors” in the novel takes place in Slavy and Chang, that Hugo's thread has been depicted by Edgars Liepins, that Druth is a museum devoted to the show “Skroderday Silmachos”, that Rundāle's castle is called “Latvian Versau”, that the Omnivu palace in Rēzekne at the store Maxima's inspiring drawings is created by Elita Patmalniece, that Liepāja has created an alley of Latvian musicians and much more.
In a total of 116 points, the 1 st place was won BY a Viļānu secondary school team (Ineta Gritane, Alice Clinta Brock, March Puzek, Victoria Sidorova, Linda Stabular, Andris Kukarels). In 2 nd place, a team of Eastern Latvian technologies ranked by 105.5 points, while the 3 rd place was acquired BY THE Nautrēnu Secondary School II team (105 points).
The winners of the competition received an opportunity of 450 EUR to travel to their own destination. On the other hand, in early June, the municipality of Rezekne conducts an excursion for all “erudite” teams – this time we are going to visit Zemgale.
