Municipality delegation took part in the days of the northern region of Moldova

Representatives of the municipality of Rezekne and representatives of companies in the composition of the Latvian delegation from 6 to 9 October participated in the events of the Northern Region of Moldova, which were organised with the aim of developing contacts between Latvia and Moldova in the northern region and discuss further development plans for cooperation.

The Latvian delegation comprised more than 70 representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (LATVIA), Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA), nine Latvian municipalities, their institutions, entrepreneurs, as well as non-governmental employees. The Rēzekne District event was represented by Rēzekne District Council Chairman Monvīds Švarcs, Director of the Maltese High School, Vinera Deme, head of the tourism information centre and host Ligita Harčevska, head of THE biogas cogeneration station of SIA “Sprudzeva M”, Kaspars melnis, the farmer's “fishermen” representative Janis Macāns, the head of the catering service and the company SIA “Lauvits” Tatjana Kubecka.

The members of the delegation participated in the business forum “Promoting the economic potential of the northern development region of Moldova – opportunities for cooperation with European Union countries”, within which an exhibition and a contact exchange of Latvian-Moldovan entrepreneurs were held, with the aim of promoting cooperation between entrepreneurs of both countries by developing business contacts, which include signs of future transactions or agreement regarding further cooperation.

The delegation of the Rezekne municipality, within the framework of the days of the northern region of Moldova, visited municipalities, met local business sectors, visited non-governmental organisations and local businesses in order to identify areas for further cooperation.

As part of the event, the Latvian-Moldovan Friendship Day was held in the city of Moldova in order to share experience, promote cooperation between citizens, municipalities and entrepreneurs, presenting and tasting products produced in Latvia and Moldova.

The activities of the event are financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
