The monument was discovered in 1936. On August 16, General Žanis Bachs (1885 – 1941), the priest, Adam vizulis (1891 – 1970).

The Latvian Liberation War was a war on an independent and democratic Latvian state, which began soon after the proclamation of independence on 18 November 1918 and ended with the conclusion of the Latvian-Russian Peace Agreement on 11 August 1920.

The eastern border of Latvia was acquired with victory in Latgale battles and the opportunity to add Latgali to Latvia. In 1920, the Latvian Army declared the final merger and independence of Latvia.
