“Social challenges are becoming increasingly diverse and more complex today, and it is clear that the country or municipalities alone will not be able to fully resolve them. The local government and the local community may be assisted by social entrepreneurs who, through a business approach, can be involved in tackling social problems while stimulating the economy by creating innovation and a common benefit for society. More importantly, it is more important than ever to exploit the existing resources and the potential of people by creating opportunities for cooperation, so that social entrepreneurs and self-government are also worth sitting at one table, understanding each other's needs and offers to improve the quality of life in their municipality,” emphasizes THE leader of THE LSUA, Madara Ulande.
The miniforum will begin with a brief overview of social entrepreneurship, its current events and the story of the municipality of Ogres on cooperation with social enterprises. Next, Rēzekne Municipality manages Lūznavas Manor Manager, Embassy of Social Entrepreneurship Iveta Balzer will tell you about the current social business situation in the municipality, the supply and needs of existing and potential social enterprises, as well as the social challenges of the local government in which social enterprises could be involved, and what the local government can offer to these companies from their side. The second part of the event will discuss discussions and the generation of ideas in working groups with a view to developing concrete solutions for cooperation between the two parties. Miniforum will conclude with INFORMATION on future social entrepreneurship measures in this autumn.
