Call for citizens to be involved in the waste management system
The binding regulations No. 38 of the municipality of Rezekne of 19 August 2010, regarding the management of municipal waste in Rezekne municipality, determine that any owner, possessor or user of the immovable property, as well as the owner of residential houses, shall be regarded as a waste producer in the territory of the municipality and shall be responsible for the management of the waste generated, including the conclusion of a contract with the waste manager.
Under these municipal regulations, the contract on waste management must necessarily be closed to every household, as is any legal person. In accordance with the binding regulations of the local government, natural and legal persons regarding violation of these Regulations shall be held administratively liable.
The municipality of Rezekne invites residents to enter into agreements on waste management within a month. If contracts are not concluded within a month, natural and legal persons will be held administratively liable by fines.
The contract must be concluded with SIA “East Latgale Waste Management Society” (ALAAS) in each parish administration or IN ALAA premises located at Zilupes Street 50, Rezekne, telephone 6 46 07673, sia.alaas@inbox.lv, working days:
Monday 8:00 - 16:30
Tuesday 8:00 - 18:30
Wednesday 8:00 - 16:30
Thursday 8:00 - 16:30
Friday 8:00 - 14:30
We are informed that SIA “ALAAS” for places where a waste shipment machine cannot be accessed (e.g. small garden areas, separate unified) to collect waste from a container offers the collection of municipal waste in labelled plastic bags with a volume of 70 litres. If the resulting municipal waste is selected by means of labelled bags, the person shall make a prepayment for the removal of the waste when purchasing the bags. The price of one bag is EUR 1,72 (in view of the value added tax). The price includes the costs of the manufacture of the bag and the removal of the waste.
It is noted that in the municipality of Rezekne, 12 parishes (Ozolaines, Audriņu, Feimaņu, Bērzgales, Kaunatas, Ilzeskalna, Lūznavas, Nautrēnu, Pušas, Griškānu, Gaigalavas, Stružānu) were created for municipal waste disposal points (a closed-type sorting container for paper, plastic and glass) in 2015. In other parishes they will be established in 2016.
All sorted waste SIA “ALAAS” shall be exported free of charge.
Information regarding the working times of the collected collection points of municipal waste already created and the correct sorting of waste in 12 parishes is available in each parish administration.
Experience shows that the best place for sorting waste is in closed-type container points. For example, if a container that is intended for paper, a non-conscious resident leaves unsorted waste, all efforts may be wasted and the waste may be regarded as unsorted. Therefore, the sorting of waste is a matter of integrity and responsibility for each person.
In other parishes where waste collected collection points have not yet been established (a closed-type sorting container for paper, plastic and glass), SIA “ALAAS” ensures the mobile collection of municipal sorted waste (the time schedule of exits by parish is available in each parish administration and SIA “ALAAS”). The mobile collection of municipal sorted waste means that a specially equipped SIA “ALAA” machine is driving along parishes (each parish once a month) and collect the municipal waste sorted by the population – glass, paper and plastics. All sorted municipal waste SHALL be accepted by SIA “ALAAS” free of charge.
What is the benefit of sorting municipal waste?
(1) When sorting waste, the costs of waste management may be reduced as the sorted waste is collected and exported for processing free of charge. So if you want to save a certain amount of money every month, Scroll the waste!
2) sorted waste shall become secondary raw materials from which new – same or other goods may be re-produced. For example, when the glass is recycled, it can be re-used as food and drink packaging. The glass never grows, it can be recycled indefinitely. When disposing of glass into a sorted waste container, it enters the factory where it is washed, crushed and rendered to obtain a second life. When the glass is recycled, the sand is saved and the surrounding environment is not covered.
In the process of recycling plastic and PET waste, shelves, films, window frames, carpets, drainage pipes, flower pots, clothing, blankets, cobbles, and many other things that are useful to us are produced.
3) save a place in landfill sites - in order to store only waste which is really no longer possible to be recycled.
4) make the environment and the environment more beautiful, without any bottles of polyethylene jammed on the roadside or in bushes.
Currently, an area for the acceptance of sorted waste located in the territory of the municipal waste landfill site “Križeviks” (Ozolaines civil parish) has also been established in the municipality of Rezekne. For the acceptance of sorted waste, there are publicly available specially labelled metallic 1.1 m3 containers intended for the collection of sorted waste. These waste are accepted free of charge.
Information on waste management (including sorting) is also available on THE SIA “ALAAS” website: www.alaas.lv (SIA “ALAAS” ceo Jurijs Petkevics – tel. No 29132365).
