Invitation to participate in the world talent
The Movement “big talka” and the Latvian municipal Union invite every Latvian citizen to join the “World CleanUp Day” (WCD) or world talks on September 21 of that year to make our world cleaner, greener and more beautiful together with other people in the world. We must think about future generations so that they can live safely on a beautiful and healthy planet. The main objective of the global talent is to combine people in the fight against global pollution and climate change.
The author of the great talent is the writer Anna Zigure, but the idea itself was derived from the Estonians who first acted on 3 May 2008 at national level. In 2008, all three Baltic States, with talks in their land, invited people to present a gift to the 90 th anniversary of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, bringing together the land.
As a result, national talks and big public support for this idea in the Baltic States also led to a coordinated international movement of Estonian NGOs “Let `s do it World!”, which held the first world talent on 15 September 2018, with 18 million 157 countries in the world. This is a huge success and the contribution of the Baltic States to the future of the world. After the First World Talk, a conference was held in Tallinn, where Latvia was awarded a prize of excellence as the best country where the highest percentage of the population is involved in talks. This is a significant international assessment of the work done by all Latvian talents in the past decade.
This year, the world talks are organised for the second time and we, the big talent organisers, as well as the European Union of Latvia, call on everyone to engage in talent activities. If the entire world went to waste on 21 September, the country, then Latvia and its residents, did so in spring talks, so in autumn the world talks will be joining the “lucky trees” of tree sowing and planting, so that each seed or tree planted within it can grow into a future noble tree, becoming Latvia's contribution to restoring the equilibrium of the world ecosystem.
Everyone is invited to organize, within the limits of their opportunities, collective events or participate individually, to participate in the event, also to focus on their activities, writing to: talkas@talkas.lv.
The purpose of the stock “lucky trees” is:
- To build a sense of responsibility in children and young people about the preservation of nature – to build a deeper understanding of natural processes by taking care of the cultivation of a particular tree;
- Strengthen the international image of Latvia as a green, sustainable and environmental country;
- Promote more active involvement of society in environmental issues at local and global level.
Why the planting of trees not the collection of waste? In Latvia since 2008, a large talc has been held every spring, in which the contaminated and landed sites are cleaned from the waste across the territory of the country. In April 2019, more than 145 000 residents took part in the big tale. In recent years, environmental improvement works have been growing more often in the waste collection site, as the amount of waste in the environment has decreased significantly in Latvia. The planting of trees as a form OF Latvian participation IN THE WCD is also chosen because the trees play an essential role in maintaining the planet's climate balance and ensuring healthy living conditions.
How to participate? Participation in the “happiness tree” share includes the following steps:
1) a pre-prepared tree seed must be sown in a pottery or, in his or her neighborhood, a tree plant shall be set up, expressed in thoughts or words, by expressing a wish for himself or herself, Latvia or the world;
2) the sowing/planting process must be filmed or photographed and published in its social network accounts using the themes: #Lielatalka #WorldCleanupDay #Laimeskoki;
3) In the interactive map found on the talkas.lv site, the place where the new tree is planted or planted should be indicated.
