We are invited to visit Latgale Podnieku Day 2011!
From 27 to 30 April, the Rēzekne municipality, with a new brightness in many colourless tones, will extinguish the traditional “Latgale Podnieku Days”, the main organizer of which is the municipality of Rezekne. The festival provides a wide range of events - the doors open to the pottery workshops, the exhibitions and the theoretical readings, the potters will fill the ceramic biscuits to take out the miracles that have arisen in the aftermath of the family and the fire with the creative inspiration of the masters.
Andris Ushellis, head of the People's applied art studio “Rēzekne county pudnamki”, is also invited to visit the podiers' day events: “it is a unique opportunity to meet the masters who will share their secrets when telling and showing them. Just seeing how normal clay pickup turns into“ Uhh ”a piece of work, you can be aware of the great value of the pottery!” The a.k.a. warns that there is no way for visitors to see the whole process, from start to finish. “The podnieks needs to do a lot of different works — clay preparation, turnaround, glazing, burning.” There are things that can be done in parallel, but, let's say, when you're killing a hat, all the attention is devoted to it. “But there will be podiers who can tell and explain everything,” says A.Ushmouse.
In the evening of 29 April, the central podnieku day baker will be elected to the Vogulu workshop “Ceplies”. His works will be burned by ancient masters from all Latgale, so that the next day morning will look at what the flames have done, and even warm from the mouthpiece of the baker, the vases, the mugs, the bowls, and the jars.
Mr Voldemar Voguls himself, the owner of “Ceplex”, began to form a variety of figures from the clay at the age of two. By the age of 24, he was engaged in a professional position. The ceramic baker Voldemar built his parents' home “Ceplix.” Now, thanks to his knowledge, skills, material feelings and talent, the art reviewers have called his works “modern business, charged with past experience and self-revelation”. His skills have also been taught by Voldemar to his sons, the twins John and Martin. At the moment, the ceramic workshop is a colourful and black ceramic. In masters' works, there is a feeling of fundamentality and stability that will be seen again by visiting a travelling Latgale ceramic work exhibition AT Lendžu in a cultural house.
Festival culmination - opening of the “Latgale Podnieku Day 2011” exhibition - will be held on April 30 in Latgale cultural history museum. For masters, it is a regular report on the work carried out, while visitors have the opportunity to look at and evaluate the best Latgale podiers in the year-long, rainbow colours in rich, works.
