Prolonged dry and warm weather increases fire safety in forests and marshes. The Nature Protection Board calls on everyone who is going to rest or work, to observe fire safety and to handle the fire carefully. Uncontrolled and arbitrary action with fire, forests and marshes have devastating consequences and should not be tolerated.

The forest firefighting period is announced from 25 April. During this time it is prohibited to kill fires in forests and marshes, except specially installed places which prevent the spread of fire outside the zone. It is also prohibited to leave fires in such territories without surveillance - the fire site must be left when the fire is extinguished and the roasting is completely over.

It is also prohibited, during the forest firefighting period, to drop flammable or greasy matches, smoke and other objects, in the forest, in marshes or on the roads crossing them, to perform blasting works in the forest and marshes and to organise shooting activities, except in duly installed places.

It should be noted that, since 25 April, restrictions on the movement of motorised vehicles in marshes and forests are also valid.

An invitation to all who have noticed a fire in the forest shall immediately call the emergency call telephone number “112”.
