New and modern equipment for Nature Protection Management
The Nature Protection Board continues to modernise the inventory used in day-to-day work of state environmental inspectors by purchasing equipment equipped with modern technologies, thus making control work much more efficient. The Office purchased one radar boat, two zoomers, two forest cameras and one thermal chamber. The facilities provide an opportunity to improve the working conditions of environmental inspectors on and in the vicinity of the water, to ensure the control of the conditions for the use of water and motor vehicles in specially protected areas of nature.
Modern equipment suitable for specific purposes is necessary to increase operational efficiency and efficiency in areas specially protected by water, to fix illegal activities and to carry out safe navigation during night or poor visibility and to ensure compliance with the conservation regime of species and habitats.
“Latgale waters are rich in different species of fish, including, in particular, protected areas, such as sticky and reptiles. The new zoometers purchased will allow effective control of the compliance of the gear with the requirements laid down in the laws and regulations and in the fishing licences. We can operatively fix illegal fishing gear in both the light and dark times of the day, as well as continuing work in low visibility conditions,” explains the senior nature protection specialist in Latgale region Dainis Tuch.
The newly acquired equipment will make it possible to assess the speed and route of travel of the floating vehicle, thereby enabling DAP professionals to carry out control of the conditions of travel permits issued to tourist service providers.
The acquisition of such equipment has been carried out in the project “efficient and modern conservation of fish resources in specially protected natural areas”. The total funding of the project is EUR 10 224,50, of which 8997,00 EURO is the financing of the Fish Fund.
The Inspectors of the Regulatory Environment invite residents and fishermen to immediately report any violations detected in Latgale (Razna, Luban, Ezzer etc.), calling Dainim Tučam (tel. 26528739), Dagnim Vasilevsky (tel.: 26112686), Aleksandram Savičam (tel. 28703840).
