Dancing evening in Ozolmuiža
The quiet Saturday evening AT Ozolmuižas was made louder by Eric Zeps with his best friend – acordeon and his loud and scandalous voice. Eric is the leader of the post-folklore group Rikis, and we can often find a singing and dancing in Rēzekne and a neighborhood. In 2015, as part of the “dance to chalk” project, “rikis” also visited Ozolmuižas in the cultural house, as it was very much for young people, a dancing event was organised this year for a wider circle where everyone could participate.
The evening started with a small and simple introductory dance that allowed everyone to get rid of and warm up to the farthest dancers. In every next dance or play, dance partners were changed, bringing together all the present. It was fascinating that there was also a small bunch of garlic, from the age of 4, who had quickly learned every step and was able to dance as well with some adult. In the course of the evening, people like “pork drums” were executed, including traditional dances such as “Plaustinpolka”.
The event ended with a pleasant fatigue and a conclusion that there was nothing better and more delicious than water. This kind of action shows that people's songs and traditional toys are something more than a historical heritage.
