Daugavpils will open the youth event cycle of Latgale “with Europeys tvierni in Latgola”

On Wednesday 16 September, the event cycle “with Europeys tvierni in Latgola” will be opened at Daugavpils unit house, with 100 participants from 13 Latgale local government 22 schools.

The event cycle “with Europeys tvierni in Latgola” is organised with the aim of promoting the creative thinking of young people, the ability to generate ideas, the development of presentations and communication skills, the promotion of critical thinking and participation in societal issues.

All days in the event “Modern communication and information, disinformation posts and the importance of digital skills” young people will be involved in both discussions and media literacy, critical thinking and digital skills. Young people will deepen knowledge of the modern information environment and disinformation, participate in a panel discussion on the importance of media literacy and online with professionals from Brussels, the impact of social media, the importance of independent media, etc.

It will be followed by idea-generating workshops, within which youth teams will be able to develop and present their ideas according to the theme of the event. The jury will select the best idea for which funding will be provided in the amount of 1000 euros.

The next step, which will be devoted to the participation of young people and the international cooperation of young people, will take place on 7 October in Rezekne.

Event organised by the association “Southern Latgale NGO Support Centre” (DNVOAC) and European Commission representation in Latvia in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Latgale Planning Region, Daugavpils Unit primary school and Daugavpils City Council.
