Edmunds Jigung - new Head of Development Planning Unit
As of March 21, the municipality of Rezekne is led by Edmunds Jigung. The new manager was the only candidate in the open competition announced by the local government, and after the test, as well as the results of the work interview, was deemed appropriate for the vacant position.
The new manager has a Master of Science degree from the University of Rezekne (currently the Rēzekne Technology Academy), as well as a Bachelor degree of Riga Technical University with professional qualification engineer - radio technician. The new manager has also completed several professional development programmes including staff and project management, construction legislation, financial management and others. MR Jigung also obtained a certificate in the design, construction and construction of communications networks.
The current work experience of Edmund Jigunam was related to leading positions in the field of telecommunications. Since 2015, he was the Executive Director of SIA Microlines and Chairman of the Board. The six-related business area covered all Latgale and part of Vidzeme. Prior to this it was the leader of SIA “Lattelecom” investment project leaders, working on development projects up to EUR 9 million annually.
At the start of the work in the new capacity, Edmunds Jigung emphasized that it would first “review the entire area”, as the development planning department encompasses a wide range of work: both spatial planning and planning documents, infrastructure and international projects, business development and tourism information and municipal public relations. “I'll monitor and direct jobs, but i'll be able to rely on specialists, because i'm accustomed to working in a team where one else trusts and everyone works for the best conscience.”
It is recalled that a new Head of Development Planning Unit was sought, as the former Head of Unit Anna Jaudzema, after 17 years of work, took other professional challenges in the municipality of Rezekne.
