The European Institute for Innovation and Technology contributes to the growth of European culture

European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT) today launches a new Innovation Partnership knowledge and Innovation Communities in order to support European culture and creativity and the competitiveness and growth of their businesses. The new partnership will help to accelerate the recovery of the sector and unleash unused economic opportunities in areas such as architecture, cultural heritage, design, Mode, cinema, music, publishing, performing arts and video games.

THE EIT's coordinated Knowledge and Innovation Communities may exist for 15 years. “Everything in Europe” around €300 million IS available FOR EU funding for two new Knowledge and Innovation Communities to be established in the current funding period, from 2021 to 2027, and there is an opportunity to raise more funds from the private and public sector. The first is the Knowledge and Innovation Community for culture and creativity and their businesses can become reality.

Culture is a European soul. The European cultural and creative sector is able to improve life, transform society, create jobs and growth and further influence other sectors, ensuring that Europe becomes a generator of global innovation. Our goal is to create a real basis for the European innovation ecosystem with culture and creativity. The new EIT partnership will contribute to achieving this objective. It will support creativity across Europe and will translate skills and knowledge into radical innovation.

Shelf-day call for proposals mark 9. THE beginning of THE EIT: it is called “culture and creativity” and is expected to begin in the summer of 2022. Through calls for proposals, THE EIT invites all partners directly or indirectly involved in this sector, namely enterprises, universities, research organisations, NGOs, cities and regions, to identify ideas and projects that promote innovation and sustainable development in culture and innovation.

The deadline for submission of applications is 24 March 2022 and THE EIT will organise informative web seminars throughout November so that stakeholders can learn more about the submission of proposals. The selected partners will be announced in June 2022.

THE EIT's new cultural and creative community will train the future entrepreneurs of the industry in entrepreneurship education programmes, manage its leaders through the creation and acceleration services and create innovative products and services. The aim of the new Community is also to promote the integration of cultural and innovation in regional and local development strategies.

Using a business model that covers the entire innovation path from the student to the entrepreneur, from the idea to the product and from the laboratory to the market, THE EIT has trained more than 100,000 students, placing 1400 products on the market and supported 3800 new companies, who have attracted eur 3.9 billion of external funds after the start of operation in 2008.
