Excursion to Daugavpils under the “Latvian School Finish” programme

By means of offers of cultural events of the “Latvian School Finish” project, on April 4, students of the 8 th and 9 th classes of the castle primary school went to excursion to the Mark Rootko Art Centre and the scientist ZINOO Centre in Daugavpils.
The Mark Rotko Center pupils were introduced to the great course of the artist's life and his excellent works of art, as well as a new knowledge of art directions.
While working in the graphic art workshop, students learned and tested high-pressure equipment, thus improving their skills in visual art.
At the centre of the scientist, ZINOO pupils had the opportunity to learn about the various bridges in Latvia and the world. In practice, the learners used their existing and new knowledge in the construction of bridges.
The acquired knowledge and skills can be applied to students in visual artistic and physics lessons.
When writing feedback about the excursion, the educators said that the art centre was fascinating to listen to the story of Mr Rootko and his works, as well as to observe the paintings, see different objects or living beings. Many pupils were surprised that the artistic works had a great value and were very expensive.
By building bridges from spaghetti at THE ZINOO Center, each group of pupils tested their strength. One of the bridges passed even 1.981 kg. It was news for children that it was possible to build something durable from macaroni.
