EuroVelo 11 Latgale stage opening festival
On May 7-8, we discovered a long-standing project — EuroVelo 11 was dragging Latgale. The project was implemented in partnership with all Latgale partnerships, but the main project partner and performer were Ludza Partnership.
Several important activities of the region have been implemented over the course of the project: the marking of the towed route in nature, the development of a new information roadmap, the development and installation of information stands, the implementation of training, etc. activities.
40 people from various cities of Latvia participated in the opening of the Velo route. A total of 130 kilometres on the two-day route Kraslava-Dagda and Dagda-Rēzekne were carried out. In the course of the route, the participants also visited several local entrepreneurs, introducing not only Latgale mountains and leys, but also the warm owners.
Thank all the organisers and participants of the event for enthusiasm, affection and great sense of being. A second “EuroVelo 11” stage at the north side of Latgale will be organised at the end of the summer. A specific date will still be reported.
On the other hand, every Velo enthusiast has a chance to try the EuroVelo 11 route himself. The EV11 is brought into the territory of Latvia through Zarasa, along with the Nature Park “Meduma ezeraine” and along the coast of Sventes Lake to Daugavpils. From Daugavpils through the territory of the Nature Park “Daugava circle” to Kraslava, from there to Aglona and Dagda. The road leads through the Razna National Park to the Ludza and to the city of Rezekne, where EV11 beyond the Rēzekne District is connected to THE Vidzeme section OF THE EV11.
