The cost of waste management from 1 January 2021 does not change.

IN THE SIA ALAAS service area, in the municipality of Rezekne, Rezekne, Viļānu, Karsava and Ciblas, the cost of waste management will remain unchanged, i.e. 13,00 EUR/m3 (excluding VAT), together with value added tax OF 21% – 15,73 EUR/m3.

On the other hand, the new tariff will be applied to customers who will transport unsorted municipal waste to the landfill site “Križevņiki”. The tariff changes are related to annual changes in the Law on Natural Resources Tax (DRN), which is approved by the Saeima. It provides that AS from 1 January 2021, THE rate OF THE DRN is 65,00 EUR/tonne (excluding VAT). In 2020, it was 50,00 EUR/tonne (excluding VAT). The landfill tariff from 1 January 2021 is 78,89 EUR/tonne with value added tax. In 2020, there was 69.85 EUR/tonne with VAT.

Such a small change in tariff, compared to last year, is possible thanks to the active sorting of the population and the success OF SIA ALAAS to promote the sorting of waste throughout the area of operation. Two waste sorting areas and more than 300 waste sorting sites throughout the area of operation have been successful in 2020. A large contribution to the tariff reduction is given by the operation of the landfill line “Križevņiki '' sorting line. When the unsorted municipal waste is brought to a landfill site, they are placed on a sorting line where the waste which is suitable for recycling is distinguished. Consequently, less than half of all unsorted municipal waste will be buried at the landfill site!

SIA “ALAAS '” calls on citizens to sort the waste correctly and qualitatively. Waste sorting is a step towards a modern and environmentally friendly style of life. It is an opportunity both to preserve the resources provided by natural resources, to protect the environment and to reduce their daily expenditure on the removal of waste.
