Excursion of primary school pupils' primary school pupils to Riga
As a result of the project “Latvian School Finish”, students of Classes 1-4 of the Basic School of Latvia had the opportunity to visit Latvia's capital – Riga.
In the museum of ornamental art and design, pupils were offered a museum pedagogical program “guided in a museum” – an interactive educational lesson in a museum. At the beginning of the lesson, students were introduced to the museum exhibition, paying attention to the materials from which the works were prepared and how they were decorated. The pupils learned what the art was and what the various manifestations were. The exhibition includes works from all seven museum collections - ceramics and porcelain, glass, textiles, leather, wood, metal and design. During the course of the lesson, pupils were also presented with information about the museum building – the former Sv. Jura Church, the oldest surviving wall building in the Baltics. In the second part of the lesson, a variety of tasks were given to pupils in the form of a game. By dividing into groups, the pupils folded the puzzle, filled the crossword puzzle, searched for the exhibitions after a dozen fragments, and performed the creative task at the end. In the museum, students met with interest and enthusiasm with works of art, actively asking questions.
The pupils looked into the depths of the botanical garden of Latvia and met the cultural diversity of Latvia and the world. The guide told the most interesting parts of the garden of the garden – tropical, subtropical and desert plants, medical and aquatic plants, poisonous plants. The gorgeous flower plants, which have flowering times – acalia, rododendri, magnolia, were also not forgotten. The special interest and excitement of the pupils was caused by THE botanical butterfly house of LU. Several pupils admitted that the botanical garden was visited for the first time in life. Later, on their way back to Rezekne, the pupils were actively sharing their impressions on plants and the beautiful butterflies they saw in the excursion.
Students visited one of the most important architectural sites in Riga – TV tower. The television tower is not only the highest building in the Baltics, the highest TV tower throughout the European Union, a major city structure with great historical significance, but also the Latvian TV and international technology and communications centre. The pupils surveyed the Riga City panorama from THE tv Tower. The guide told the pupils about the planned reconstruction works OF THE TV tower and the square.
The pupils concluded that they gained new knowledge, new impressions, new experiences, and acknowledged that the trip to Riga was one of the best events in their school life.
