In this parliamentary term, there will be 44 liaison delegations in the European Parliament with parliamentarians in other countries, regions and organisations.
MEPs voted on the numerical composition of delegations on Wednesday. As a result of the lifting of his hands, the proposal of the Conference of Presidents of Parliament (chairman of THE EP and the heads of political groups) was approved. Later in the evening, the Members who would be in each of the delegations were named.
List of all delegations and configurations here. In the previous parliamentary term, 44 delegations had been set up.
With the determination of the composition of delegations, all the functions of the elected Members of Latvia during the first two and a half years of the new term are also known:
Sandra Kalniete (“new unity”, ETP)
Member: Committee on Foreign Affairs, Delegation to THE EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, Delegation to Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.
Substitute: Committee on International Trade, Security and Defence Subcommittee, Delegation for Nordic Cooperation and Relations with Switzerland and Norway, and THE EU-Iceland Joint Parliamentary Committee and the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Parliamentary Committee.
Inese Vaidere (“new unity”, ETP)
Member: Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, Delegation to THE ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
Substitute: Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, Delegation for relations with South East Asian countries and with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Nils Ushakov (“Coordination” Socialist Party ”, S & D)
Member: Budget Committee, Delegation for relations with the United States, Delegation to Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.
Substitute: Committee on Foreign Affairs, Delegation to THE EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee, the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee.
