Owl nightfall in the Nature reserve “Luban wetlands”
Saturday, March 21, at 18.30 Luban wetlands information centre invites families with children and natural friends to participate in the night trip of the owl. The hiking will be conducted by the bird-watchman Elvey Kantan. The hiking route will lead to the forest trails in the territory of the “Lubana Wetlands”, and the aim of the event is to get a little acquainted with the mysterious world of owls. Approximate duration of the event up to three hours, place of venue – the area of the Teirumnik forests.
Along with the hiking manager, it will be possible to learn more about the most frequently occurring owl species in the nature of Latvia, the prevalence of owls, the peculiarities of nesting and hunting etc.
Since the trip will take place mainly during the dark days of the day, the main focus is on sound and listening, visual owls will not be seen. The hiking will be quiet and listening, feeling the night's magic in the woods, hearing the call of the night birds and watching the changes of the forest with the darkness. The planned trip route is approximately 5 km. It is intended for forest trails and walkways, a mild-sophisticated walk-in that is suitable for families with children.
Before we walk, we follow the weather and get dressed, because there'll be stops and listening pauses during the trip, make sure it's not cold! Moisture-resistant shoes and clothing that do not crush.
A pocket or forehead lamp shall also be required during the journey. For a more comfortable walk, if there is a wish, you can take a hot tea and a knife.
