Starts login training for adults in digital skills education programmes
31 May, open new login European Union (EU) Fund for adult learning project “Improving the professional competence of employed persons” by the National Education Development Agency (VIAA). Unlike previous login, you can learn digital skills in this way. Every employee of 25 years of age can choose one of the 412 educational programmes offered, covering both digital literacy and advanced knowledge-level digital skills for adults. Educational programs offer 47 educational institutions throughout Latvia. Programmes generally cover 12 digital competences: information processing/information and data literacy; communication and cooperation; building digital content; IT security; problem-solving; programming, development and maintenance of websites and applications; digital business analysis; multimedia design; digital project management; digital product management and development; digital marketing; data science; data analysis; and data visualization.
Education programmes are designed to improve the general and professional digital skills of workers and self-employed people for more efficient work and to improve competitiveness in the labour market. Both existing labour market challenges and the impact of the pandemic on the need for the development of digital skills for the performance of remote work and the acquisition of educational programmes, as well as the interest in acquiring various digital skills in the current logging process, have been taken into account when creating a training offer for this round in collaboration with vocational education institutions and employers.
“Both the results of previous applications and employers' requests confirm the growing willingness of the population and the need to acquire direct digital skills. This has also been exacerbated by the changes in the virus pandemic, where the management of digital skills is a predominant and often decisive role. The knowledge and skills offered in this login will help to strengthen the digital position for each adult in both his professional and his business digital solutions, allowing us all to leave Covid-19 crisis with a stronger digital literacy”, says Dita Traidas, Director of State Education Development Agency.
Acquiring digital skills more than 18 thousand so far
Since the start of the project in 2017, more than 48 thousand workers have started training, of which 38% has chosen to learn different digital skills. In addition, the highest reference was made in the previous round of applications, where the total number of participants in digital skills education programmes exceeded 5 thousand, confirming the need for improvement of digital knowledge among the Latvian population.
Project management has been ranked among the most requested digital skills education programmes Agile, Scrum and other tools, digital marketing, Google AdWords organizing, programming and homepage, data analysis and working with MS Excel, as well as the protection and security of personal data.
