From 22-25 January, representatives of the Latgale Region Tourism Association “Ezerland” participated in workshops in Polish cities in Warsaw, Krakow (Mazpolia voivodese) and Katowice (Silesia voivodese).
The purpose of the workshops was to present the various Polish southolders and local government representatives who are active in the field of tourism, with the offer of Latgale region. A so-called B2B or direct meeting with representatives of the Polish tourism industry took place in Warsaw. Visitors to the Warsaw Workshop showed great interest in Latgale region, its travel opportunities and the developments of the tourism industry in the region.
In Krakow and Katowice, the representatives of the association spoke with two presentations – the first as a concise description of the tourism offer of Latgale region and the second – presentation of the four-day tourism route “by ancient Polish feet” in Polish. The route includes the most important examples of Latgale region Polish (Inflantia) time architecture, as well as contemporary Latgale region TOP objects. That route gave rise to a special reference, both a variety of practical questions and a number of questions relating to the historical links between Poland and Latgale.
The Polish culinary heritage is in a special respect, therefore, in all three cities, special deletions from the skilled Latgale producers were given: Z/S “Kurzeme” Latgale flower tea and cannabis farm “Obelisk Farm” tea, as well as special cannabis energy bars, as well as Malnava “Latgolys šmakovka”, the sieve cheese, the excellent sausage of the Rēzekne meat, and the particularly delicious seed bread of the province of Andrupenes.
It can be said that the Polish tourists Latgale is an interesting destination, precisely due to the shared history. It is obvious that the most detailed Polish southmakers wanted to learn about the sacred heritage and the possibilities of its examination, but the undivided interest was also shown as the delicacy of the culinary heritage and the walking trails in nature. It is important to emphasise that it is now important to attract new guides who would also be able to communicate polically and be able to spend the group excursions in Latgale region.
On the basis of the 2019 Latgale region statistics, Polish tourists are already in the fourth place, but representatives of THE Lake Land are convinced that the number of Polish tourists in the annual cut can be at least doubled.
Thank you very much for the Ambassador of Latvia in Poland to Mr Edgars Bondars and his excellent team, thanks to which this kind of workshop was organised.
In general, workshops and presentations in three Polish cities attracted more than 120 different tourism industry representatives. As a result, Latgale region has become a little more familiar to tourists from Poland, new, valuable contacts have been obtained and qualitative cooperation with the Polish embassy in Latvia and Latvia's embassy in Poland has been strengthened.
