The Eighth season starts at the “LIGHTHOUSE” centre of the development of water.
The Urban Development Centre (UTAC) “lighthouse” at Luban Lake is a popular tourism object for both Latvian and foreign tourists, watersports fans and bird watchers. Latvia's largest lake Lubans, beautiful landscapes, clean nature, and many active tourism opportunities are attracted here. This year, the center is surrounded by the eighth season, which was discovered by a towel around Lake Luban.
In order to create an orderly and attractive environment in the vicinity of Lake Luban, nine years ago, a decision was taken in the municipality of Rezekne to create a modern object on the basis of the old, half-collapsed pump station. The project “Sustainable tourism development in the vicinity of Kupišku lagoon (Lithuania) and Luban Lake (Latvia)” was implemented from 20 March 2009 to 19 March 2011, the funding of which was linked to Latvia – Lithuania's cross-border cooperation programmes in 2007-2013.
THE “lighthouse” is located in a special place – the “Lubana wetlands” area of the natural reserve and the largest lake of Latvia in Luban. From the point of view of biodiversity, it is a unique place not only in Latvia but also internationally, as Luban and fish ponds are one of the most important areas for resting, nesting and feeding waterbirds. In total, 224 bird species have been observed in the area, 185 of them nested. There are several world-threatened bird-Gas. The Luban wetlands cover also includes a large number of protected habitats – river palace meadows, intact high marshes, swampy forests, boreal (northern) forests, blackalder tramps, park meadows etc.
The “lighthouse” and its magic and living surroundings are not only the birds of birds, fish and Spaniards, and people want to return again and again to be sporting, healthy and active in the free time. The number of visitors to the Centre is increasing annually, reaching 13 626 in 2017. The largest influx of visitors is in the summer season, at weekends, when the number of tourists in the day is around two hundred. In the summer there is a chance to watch birds, wonderful sunrises and sunsets, a beautiful view of Luban Lake from a boat or a “beacon” roof terrace.
Hire a bike “beacon” and go on a trip around the lake, feeling its true magnitude, or drive through the woodland, enjoying nature, fresh pine warm air, and bird songs. We have two electric tricycles for people with special needs.
“Lighthouse” also offers accommodation, 14 beds are available in the centre. “Water room” means the Double Room, “wind” and “fire” rooms - four-seat rooms. Another room with two two-storey beds was built at the beginning of that year.
The beacon is surrounded by water – on the one hand, Luban throws his wave, on the other hand, the fishermen's little paradise – Cavana pond, where everyone can try their masterness and luck. Here is an opportunity to visit the two-seat cabin, throwing circles through the cane labyrinth, with SUP airboards sliding through the clear water reflections. Do you want something more extreme? Then be sure to try the wind board in Luban Lake when you go with the wind, or hide in the summer with water skis and the bladder at the motorboat. In the sports area there is an opportunity to play tennis and volleyball actively, after games can safely go to the clean bathing site of Luban Lake. In winter, on the other hand, there is an opportunity to slice and ski, to go with a pink and, of course, to engage in an underground fishing.
It is a great pleasure that “lighthouse” services and accommodation have been attracted by guests from abroad. A family from Russia is spent every year in the summer season in a holiday “beacon” and is visited by other interesting and beautiful places in Latgale after our journey. These guests have fallen in love with the special and peaceful aura of the beacon surroundings, the way the sun is slowly slipping through the large Luban Lake every night, like a carousel in Cavana ponds. They say, “There's something magic, another world, peace that makes you get out of everyday and enjoy water, cane and bird chalks.”
When the “beacon” is called back to home … yes, it is really happening. My “lighthouse” was also called back to the native side – Gaigalavas parish, like Spruin, who was going to find happiness in the world. When I was a child i dreamed that i would have a house at the lake or a river where i could watch the sun in the waters, the nature changing and the pleasant San. Now this dream is filled. At the moment, i can say that my “home” is at the large and multi-coloured Luban Lake – the “beacon” i care about and love and love. This place cannot be loved because it is alive, with its nature, the sun, the wind, the birds, the rain drops, the air, it “tightens” and does not let go, makes it pleasure every morning to go to work!
If you want to rest on natural, complete and actively enjoy the pleasure of water, enjoy the beautiful landscapes and celebrate festivals, welcome to the Beast!
