Historical stop “letter to the past …” IN the parish library OF Audriņu
June 14: This is a special day for every citizen of Latvia. It is a day when it is worth stopping, forgetting about everyday haste and thinking about the past. To think of thousands of people who had been removed from their homes, from relatives and friends, for those who lost their homeland, they lost their health and lives, which had been distorted and deprived of their liberty.
By mentioning all the victims of the Communist genocide, THE Audriņu parish library organised a event called “historical stop: a letter to the past” on 14 June.
A mailbox was located at the library building. Every user of THE parish library OF Audriņu, parish resident and guest, subject to epidemiological rules, was invited to remember one of the most tragic and bleak days in Latvia's history and write a brief letter addressed to the people and events on June 14, 1941.
The letters were different by content, the age of authors and the experience of life were different, but all the epistolic genre messages were perpetrated by one idea: we remember, we know.
You can see the contents of the letters IN the parish library of Audriņu by contacting the librarian.
