Calls for logging for statistical data expedition

For the day of European statistics, the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia, together with the data school, invites narrators, programmers, analysts and other data enthusiasts to participate in the data expedition that will be held on Thursday, October 20. 18.15-21.00 CSP Information Center in Lāčplēsis Street 1.

During the expedition, participants will search for stories IN CSP's foreign trade, socio-economic, spatial, etc. Participants will have all the data published BY THE CSP, which will be helpful in obtaining an appropriate format. The expedition will take place in groups which will be based on the experience and skills of the participants. Its results can be data-based stories, app prototypes, etc. More about the data expedition format can be found on the data school website: http://lv.schoolofdata.org/data-expeditions/.

Interested in logging on to the Facebook page of the data school http://ej.uz/StatistikasEkspedicija. In order to participate fully in an expedition, each participant must be accompanied by its own personal computer (tablets) and a co-operative mood.

For the first time on 20 October, the European statistical authorities and central banks will celebrate the European Statistical Day. It aims at updating the value of independent, qualitative and internationally comparable data, updating the importance of official statistics in society and decision-making. Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia is the European Statistical Day Coordinator in Latvia.

Data school is an international network created to promote data reading skills. As members of the network, the data school is working to provide non-governmental organisations, journalists, public authorities and citizens with the ability to work with data more effectively, creating a better, fairer and more sustainable society.
