Restrictions extended until 7 February

Information updated 21.01.2021.

On 21 January, the Government decided to extend the current security measures by 7 February. At the same time, it is decided that children from 1 1 to 4 will also be remote from January 25.

The epidemiological situation in Latvia is stabilising slightly, but it is not yet possible to cancel or mitigate certain security measures, indicate
Ministry of Health. Disease prevention and control centre data indicate that Covid-19 infection continues to spread and the situation in Latvia despite the improvement of the last few days is critical.

In order to be able to talk about mitigating security measures, the epidemiological situation should improve several times. This means that the first possibility of deciding on the gradual reduction of restrictions would be if up to 200 new cases per 100 000 population were registered in 14 days.

Similarly, a decision is taken on individual situations where individual practical lessons can be obtained. Accordingly, if the acquisition of qualifications is necessary in the face of practical activities, which cannot be obtained remotely, such as construction, engineering, metalworking, wood, energy, etc. This would be possible only in cases where a two-meter distance can be observed in the acquisition of skills.
