2018 is declared a European Year of Cultural Heritage (ECMG). EKMG is intended to encourage a wider range of people to discover and explore the cultural heritage of Europe and to strengthen the feeling that we belong to a common European space. This year's motto is “our heritage — past and future.”
Throughout the year, numerous events across Europe will be devoted to encouraging the cultural heritage of Europe to share and evaluate it as a shared resource to improve understanding of shared history and wealth so that people are better able to feel belonging to Europe and that the cultural heritage of Europe is better protected, sacrificed, used, understood and promoted.
The most significant planned measures in THE AREA OF ECMG

  • European Day (May 9): On this date, the anniversary of the Declaration of Robert Schuman is celebrated and, on 9 May, it is called for special attention to be paid to the cultural heritage of Europe, which will honour various kinds of events, exhibitions as well as creative workshops.
  • The challenge of “oda joy”: Europa Nostra President Plasido Domingo, highlighting THE EKMG, calls for the participation of #ode2joy in the challenge, For the pleasure of smelling share a significant heritage site and share their social networks on 9 May. More than share can be found here.
  • European kultūras mantojuma dienas: Being celebrated every year in August/September and around 20 million people participate. The European Heritage Days are a thematic programme of cultural events designed by the owners of heritage sites, enthusiasts and specialists, aimed at bringing people closer to cultural heritage by raising awareness of the protection of monuments – the diversity of protected monuments, the identification of values, preservation, as well as cultural heritage as a resource for sustainable development.

    The European Commission will assess very much if you receive information (e-mail form) about activities and events (the name of the event, audiences, photos, video materials, press releases, etc.) that have occurred within AN ECONOMIST. The European Commission also offers the opportunity to promote the event by publishing information on their ECMG website, news page or social networks.
    THE ECO-label (logo, slogan and theme) is available for all events, events and projects that take place between 7 December 2017 and 31 December 2018. The Year of Cultural Heritage is intended to represent projects that contribute to achieving one or more of the objectives of the European Year of Cultural Heritage. The representatives of the European Commission shall be entitled to grant this mark to measures which correspond to the objectives of that year. Guidelines for obtaining a sign can be found in here.     Television channel ARTE it is announced as the official MEDIA partner, and in 2018 the channel will offer visitors a wide range of stories about European cultural heritage.
