European elections: a new website on the conduct of elections in each country
The European Parliament has launched a new website explaining the progress of voting in European elections in each Member State and beyond EU borders.
- European-velesanas.eu
- Information in 24 languages
- Opportunity to vote for citizens outside THE EU
Step by step to the polling station
On the website, the voting rules in each country are explained in the form of questions and answers. It contains information on the date of election, the age limits, the time limit for registration, the documents required, the percentage barrier to be entered in Parliament, the number of Members elected by each State, as well as the contact details of the electoral authorities.
As this information differs from country to country, it can be found in the official language (s) of each country and in English.
Vote abroad
The website provides information on the possibilities of voting abroad (in another EU Member State or in a third country) as well as on post-mail voting. This information could be particularly useful for some three million EU citizens living in the United Kingdom.
More on the website:
- questions and answers to the European Parliament, the leading candidates and the next steps after the elections;
- information on the possibilities of participating in the electoral campaign;
- election-related news from Parliament's website;
- links to the European Parliament's political group and European political party sites.
This is the concluding “full” year of work for the current - 8. FOR THE EP, the European elections will be held on 23-26 May of that year (in Latvia - 25 May), when EU citizens will elect the new European Parliament (705 Members from 27 EU Member States). This (EP 9 th parliamentary term) will begin in July 2019.
