Announcing the annual award for the year “big catch 2019”

The Ministry of Agriculture (ZM) calls for the application of fisheries sector enterprises and their representatives in the annual Baltic fisheries “big catch 2019”. The aim of the prize is to promote the development and relevance of the fisheries sector in society. Candidates are invited not only by the fisheries sector itself but also by non-governmental organisations, scientific institutions and municipalities.
Applicants for the annual award “big role 2019” will be assessed in nominations — “annual enterprise in maritime fisheries”, “annual enterprise in marine coastal and inland waterway fisheries”, “annual enterprise in aquaculture”, “annual enterprise in fish processing”, “new and promising sector” and “contribution to the promotion of fisheries and water management”. Applications for participation in these nominations shall be submitted TO the consultancy offices of SIA “Latvian Rural Consultation and Education Centre”, Rural Support Service (LAD) regional agricultural administrations or LAD central apparatus in the customer service part, Riga, Republic of Republic 2 until 31 May 2019.
Minister Kaspars Gerhards: “Latvia is an important person who invests his work and time in the sustainable exploitation of Latvian waters and its fish resources. The work of these people and the results achieved are important not only for them, but also for us – the industry and the state as a whole. With the“ big role ”of the prizes, we not only support a significant economic sector and the people working in it, but also the cultural and historical traditions and values. In addition, we demonstrate the knowledge and professionalism of both small and large entrepreneurs, as well as the results achieved by highlighting positive examples. It is also important to emphasise that the fish products of these skilled specialists are highly valued not only among local residents, but they also carry the name of Latvia in the world.”
Similarly, this year will be presented in the nomination “for a lifelong contribution to fisheries”, which is awarded to a person for a lasting and significant contribution to the development of the fisheries sector. Applicants for this award may be nominated by non-governmental organisations, scientific institutions and municipalities associated with the fisheries sector. In each nomination, the Commission will determine one winner, who will receive the award “big role 2019”, THE ZM diploma and the money prize. Similarly, the Commission will also be able to decide on the beneficiaries of the promotion prizes. The winding-up event is scheduled to take place at the end of 2019.
