AT Kaunatas High School, also in this school year (as a few years ago), the European Union Erasmus + Programme Operational No 1 (1) is implemented, which provides for teachers' training visits to other European Union countries.
Kaunatas High-school teachers have highly appreciated the opportunities and benefits of such projects, so a new Erasmus + project “a comprehensive approach to improving student learning motivation” was presented and supported after a short stay at the National Education Development Agency (project number: 2018-1-LV01-046823). Erasmus + programmes offer a wide range of opportunities for teachers to improve their skills in modern learning. In this school year, five teachers will participate in various courses outside Latvia.
The author of this article, the English-language teacher Marina Atiechenkova, took part in training in Portugal from 7 October to 14 October. The theme of the courses “promotion of creativity and innovation in the class. The use of future-class teaching methodologies and mobile devices'. Training will make it possible to significantly improve the opportunities of both students and teachers in the mutual cooperation process.
During pre-sessions, the participants were divided by groups, creating four groups. The Teacher's Aigenkova Group had 16 colleagues from some countries (Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia, Estonia).
On the first day, everyone had to present themselves, their country, the school. Following the introduction, lectures on the practical application of computers as a primary training device in a school hour had been planned.
On the second day, there was a great opportunity to explore and practice with various learning strategies for the development of creativity and innovation. A non-prescription school was visited where students are grouped by classes, such as class 4, class 5, class 6 with class 7. School director boa Aguas stressed that only the United Class learns better and more effectively. That made some of us wonder.
On the third day, the band had a chance to learn about the future-class lab (Future Classroom lab) and also visit it. The class is divided into four groups where each has its own meaning and purpose: investigation, creation, development and presentation. The task is received on a tablet or mobile phone where it is performed. In this way, students are given an individual approach to the learning process.
The fourth day was work with telephone applications. An interesting lecture on how to motivate students to learn in the school environment.
On the fifth day, the participants had to use the knowledge received, creating their own hour plan and presenting it to others. There was a discussion and an hour-long evaluation.
Course activities combined people from different countries with different characteristics in one professional team. All the participants had a unique opportunity to familiarise themselves with the nature of Portugal, enjoy the spell of the Atlantic Ocean and the magic of the clear water, familiarise themselves with the traditional kitchen of Portuguese, visit the most beautiful places in Portugal. All this thanks to a great course organizer for Vittoram Costa.
On Sunday, Sunday, a tropical hurricane Leslie was moving across Portugal, which broke hundreds of trees, overturned cars, cancelled flights and disturbed rail traffic … and also, here, Director Vitor Costa organised the delivery of all course participants to the airport without problems. The author of this article, with pleasant feelings and new ideas, returned happily to work.
