Latvian bank will release 2 euro commemorative coins “Latgale ceramics”

On Friday, June 5, Latvia will release 2 euro commemorative coins “Latgale ceramics”. The graphic design author of the new commemorative coin is the artist Gundega Ranāne.
The acquisition of coins will only be possible on the Internet monetas.lv e-mail from 5 June. 12.00. The new commemorative coins will only be available in souvenirs and circulation coins.
Due to the pandemic of covid-19, new numissistic products will not be available in the banks of Latvia. Receiving purchases by e-monetas.lv on the Internet will only be possible by post.
The new eur 2 commemorative coins, which are also circulation coins, will not be available for the time being (incl. in coins). A total of 400 000 coins are planned to be put into circulation after normalisation of the situation by informing the public in good time.
Latgale ceramics is included in the cultural canon of Latvia and is one of the most brightest cultural signs of Latvia. The new commemorative coin shows a ceramic design characteristic of Latgale – a candle. The People's podation has been cultivated for a long time in Latgale and Kurzeme, but only in Latgale has it remained through times and passed from generation to generation.
The graphic design author of the new commemorative coin is the artist Gundega Ranāne, while the author of the plastic design is Janis Strupulis. The author of the coin is the artist Luc Luycx, and the coin material and size are not different from the other 2 euro circulation coins.
2 euro coins in the uncirculated quality price of Brilliant is 7.90 euro and the purchase limit for one person – 7 copies (total circulation – 5000 copies), while the price of circulation coins is 25.00 euros and the purchase limit for one person – 7 copies (total numbering – 7000 copies).
“LATVIA”, “LATGALE CERAMICS” as well as the year of release (2020) are included on the national side of commemorative coins. In the same way as all other euro circulation coins of the Republic of Latvia, “GOD * BLESS LATVIA *”. New 2 euro coins in UAB Lietuvos monetų kalykla (Lithuania).
The circulation coins “Latgale ceramics” included euro circulation coins of 2020 with a nominal value of 1 cents to 2 euro, in addition to the new eur 2 commemorative coins.
“Latgale ceramics” will be the only 2 euro commemorative coin released by Latvian bank in this year.
