“Fields to be!” in the semi-final – enthusiasm, confidence, fire

With laughter, a good excitement and joy of success, the semi-final of the competition “to be!” is a semi-final, organised by the Latvian Rural Consultation and Education Centre (LLCC) for the seventh year. Thus, in the final of the competition at the end of March, 16 young people in four different categories will become a money prize for the implementation of their business idea.
In the category “business idea in the agricultural sector”, young people presented a total of 19 ideas. After examining presentations and business plans in the final, Emile Jaunfather came out of the awards with the sheep cutting and nail cutting service, the Mairita quarrel from Tukums municipality, with the project “Silda rabbit”, as well as two business ideas from the Talsi side – Dace Damberg with the cultivation of microgreens and the May Daugele with the intention of creating a walnut garden.
The jury also decided on the award of a special prize – paid mentor – in each of the categories. This was the case for Agitai Briede to implement the idea of the development of organic farming on the farm “Jaunmeldri”.
In the category “business idea in the non-agricultural sector – service provision”, 22 business ideas took part in the semi-final. The final entry: Elina Zeilin from Olaine takes the idea of a lipstick-coloured workshop “HERSELF”, Christine Dunik, from Bauska, takes the offer of SpA procedures “a place to meet yourself”, Juris Branson of Preiles, with repairs of autobodywork without painting, as well as Maris Skujiņš from the Cēsis side with the intention of creating a wild deer watch station. The jury specialty came to the realization of Liv Apriķe's idea of masterpieces in bakery and cheese-making for guest reception.
In the category “business idea in the non-agricultural sector – production”, 11 business ideas have been defended. In the final, Anna Jurgaite from Dobeles is accompanied by the natural cosmetics workshops “Ezerbaa”, the Cynia Login porcelain workshop from Preilu municipality, the production of Inga Elina Pindu (plant poison) and the piracy on the side of Madona, as well as Evita Biķe with wood products from Aizkraukles municipality. The jury award was received by Elina Berzins for the production and sewing of textiles in her workshop “Melanelli”.
In the category “business idea added value creation — recycling”, there were 11 ideas. In the final, Ilze Kalāce-Berzins and Ieva Biķe from Olaine are led by a fine flush production plant, the Lelde bar from Jelgava municipality, with the production of biscuit semi-finished and berry grease, Evita Šmithena from the Talsi municipality, and the manufacture of leaf powder, as well as Janis Silabriedis from the Rēzekne municipality with the preparation of meat snacks – he also received a jury award.
For the total prize fund of eur 20 000, young people will compete on 28 March – the competition “fields to be!” in the final.
