Rēzekne District Council will continue to manage Monvīds Švarcs
On Friday, October 1, all 19 newly elected members of the Rēzekne council met at the first meeting. In congratulating Members with the mandate obtained, the President of the Rēzekne municipality, Ilona Turka, called for the next four years to take the decisions to which they would say they were smart, courageous and forward-looking: “The electorate of Rezekne is your employer. Behind each Member is the people who expect active action and decisions to enhance the well-being of people and improve their daily lives. '
On the agenda of the first meeting, there were questions about the election of the vice-president and the deputy. Two applicants, Monvīds Švarcs (JV/KP/LP) and Kaspars Melnis (ZZS), were nominated from among MEPs. With 13 votes in favour, a permanent head of the Rēzekne municipality was elected as Chairman OF the Council.
Ērika Teirumnieka and Jekaterina Ivanova were nominated for the post of Vice-President of the municipality. With 13 votes in favour, THE deputy of THE Rēzekne Technology Academy was elected as Vice-President.
Since the establishment of the Rēzekne municipality in 2009, the council never had a division in the position or opposition – all former members of the council worked at one common table, regardless of the political affiliation. For the first time in these elections there is a five-party coalition in Rēzekne District, while “harmony” will work in the opposition.
“Infringement directs development,” said Chairman OF the Rēzekne District Council Monvīds Švarcs. “So that we can provoke one another to the debate on problems and seek the best solutions by putting aside political ambitions, but in the forefront of conscience and mutual respect.”
In all candidates' programmes with which citizens were able to meet before the elections, four main works have emerged: effective, open municipal administration; involvement of citizens; support for entrepreneurship and work with social risk groups. “Of course, every elected Member has a good idea of the area closest to itself or the parish that has received the most votes, but it is our task to work and solve problems that are topical throughout the municipality and every person,” said Monvīds Švarcs.
“Priority is a man,” said Vice-President OF the newly elected council Ērika Teirumnieka. “We're all from Rezekne, so we know the needs and priorities of people. Our citizens deserve the best, so i hope that we can achieve a lot by working together. We can support people who need a municipal shoulder. We can do big things when you put your heads together. '
The meetings of the Rēzekne council shall be held on the first and third Thursday of each month, while meetings of permanent committees shall be held on the second and fourth Thursday. Until any additional epidemiological restrictions have emerged, the meetings of the council shall be held on a spot (with Covid certificates or tests). On Thursday, 7 October, it is planned to see the question of the establishment of five permanent committees and the distribution of Members in them.
