AGING IN COMFORT

LATLIT_logo_LAT_full_RGBThe people of Rezekne, who need social care, will be able to use social carers' mobile brigade services. Using a specialised vehicle, a specially equipped microbus Volkswagen Crafter, social workers and carers will go to the old, lonely and sick people living in remote areas and provide the necessary services. A mobile team will help you in tasks that Senior is unable to do with your own forces, such as bringing a sip, screwing a bulb, going to a store to buy food and other items that you need everyday. Carers will be able to take a client to a parish centre where showers, washing rooms and hairdressing services are available. The vehicle is also designed for two wheelchairs and stretchers. A driver, social worker and social carer will be active in the mobile team.
The head of the Rēzekne municipality, Silvija Strankale, explains that there are at least 60 people in Rēzekne municipality who need these types of services: in one day our specialists will be able to serve five to seven customers – depending on the distance to be performed.
This kind of service is a lot of progress in our activities, because so far our social carers went to our customers at a very large distance. In order to get the seniora to the doctor, the local government had to look for a specially equipped transport, which also marked considerable costs. The social service now has its own specialised vehicle with a stretcher and a place for wheelchairs to go with care, for example, to medical doctors or to other professionals who need him. '
The service should contact the social service of Rezekne by telephone +37164607176. The Rēzeknes service is available to low-income residents free of charge, starting from September 20.
The Rēzekne municipality's project manager Inta Rimšāne said that the idea of the necessity of such a vehicle came after the visit of Norway and Sweden: “the number of elderly people is growing rapidly in Latvia and also in Rezekne District, so that more people need social care services. There is a stereotyped stereotype in society that the care of the elderly should be provided to family members. If the relatives are not or they are busy, the end of the lifetime must be accompanied by the old people in the homeland. Often a person would be happy to spend aging in the normal environment, not in a homeland, so it is the responsibility of the local government to offer services that would allow the seniors to maintain a dignified life while remaining in their home. This is possible if it is provided, for example, in the care of home works, in the care of the disease and in the tissues. In Rezekne, mobile teams will be allowed to receive social care services in a much shorter period. '
