The municipality of Rezekne has issued a calendar for 2020 with the children and youth drawings of Rezekne.
In May 2019, the Europe Direct Information Centre in East Latgale had launched a pupil drawing competition “EUROPE IN MY MUNICIPALITY, PARISH, FAMILY”. The aim of the competition was to find out how the Rezekne municipality sees the municipality as a European part and itself as a citizen of the European Union. 54 pupils from various schools in Rezekne were received. The drawings were assessed by a competent jury - the doctors of the Rēzekne Technology Academy, Diana Apele, the scene Strode, Ilze Mežinska and the calendar maker Tatjana Carklence. Assessing the quality of the work submitted by the competition took into account the relevance of the competition, the originality and artistic value, the compositional and colour solution, and the quality of the performance. The 14 most relevant drawings to be regarded as winners were selected for the calendar.
“Science and education for our future” (15 years, Feimaņu primary school) of Valentina Jermakov, the front cover of the calendar, is illustrated by 12-year-old Kiril Grahoļskis from Nautrēnu secondary school - “European projects help to organize the area and highlight the beautiful nature of Latgale at different seasons”. In February, the 13-year-old Maltas high school student Sergei Tarakanov shows his view of one of Europe's most famous sites “Pisa Tower”, a March pupil from THE elementary school of THE Maltas secondary school, the 15-year-old Nadežda Harlamova, drawing illustration “Svilpavnieki for Latvian Presidency guests in the European Union”. In April, the 13-year-old Ruth Vonoga from Nautrēnu High School draws attention to “acquisition of machinery in rural areas”, in May Gaigalavas primary school pupil, 11-year-old Lāsma Lebane, draws his view to Europe “through the years”, in June 12-year-old Raivis Snodzins from Maltas high school represents “Liga festival in Latvia”, while July reflects the 12-year-old Valerija Hochev from Kaunatas secondary school with “bell museum”. On the August page, League Sondore (12 years, Nautrēnu secondary school) tells how “Europe supports the setting of the environment in Latgale”, while in September her scooter, Maria Marianna Kateke (14 years), in her drawing shows how “European projects help to organize the environment”, in October Andris Martinovs (11 years, Jaunjjan elementary school) has drawn up how Europe has helped “the restoration of the Rogovka youth centre”, in November Irina Adeļevičs (18 years, Eastern Latvian Technology Secondary School) patriotically shows what we are “we in Europe”, in December Mars Meikstume (18 years, Nautrēnu secondary school) says what “the reflection of twelve European star in my Rēzekne municipality” looks like. One of the winners of the competition, Andris Martinovs, told him that Jura Soikāns Ludza's children's art school 1 TP32T, head of the May Gailums. He had a surprise in the competition: “our teacher often encourages us to participate in a variety of competitions, i've been a winner in another competition and won a lemonade for the entire class.” This competition marked the renewal of the Rogovka Youth Centre, which was renovated with European support. “It is very pleasant to see your drawing in the Calendar of Rezekne, i think my parents and teacher will be happy.”
The Rēzekne municipality calendar is set for nine years and has been issued in cooperation with the Europe Direct Information Centre in Eastern Latgale for the last two years and is devoted to European themes. All calendars have been written by the Tatjana Carklence of the District Development Planning Division of the municipality of Rezekne, who acknowledges that all the calendars are beautiful: “each year has been with a different subject, different photos: i have made beautiful scenes of natural nature, we have been the most interesting entrepreneurs of our municipality, photographs of artist paintings, parish photos from the bird's flight, cultural historical objects, the products and articles produced, cartoons and children's drawings that year.
When you created this year's calendar, i was concerned about the brightness of color because the drawings were drawn with both colored pencils, chalks, and guashes and with different techniques. I hope it will be good for big and small. Of course, the children and their parents will be pleased that their drawings are showing the Calendar of Rezekne.
It is a very fine and creative work that is taken from the original idea to the completion of the magazine. Every month of the year is to be printed, the days of the week and the day of the name must be marked in detail and the day of the word, and the events must be clearly marked.
It is always important for me that the calendars be enjoyed by the people of the municipality. It is a work where i truly put my creativity, heart and soul. '
