In addressing the participants of the event, the President OF the Rēzekne municipality council Monvīds Švarcs emphasized the idea of the Latvian People's Unity: “by organising our event in Rezekne, we do what is written on the Monument of Mar – we are united to Latvia and we show that Latvia has a future. In terms of the values that set Latvia in these 100 years, they are three - dreams, opportunities and courage. These three things in combination lead to success. We must be brave and enterprising. I wish family happiness and well-being! I'm a Latvian, i'm Latvia!
The first recognition article was called Anna Babre from Maltas, which was very touched that her activity in restoring independence was not forgotten: “from the group who was active in Maltā awakening, i was only one of thirty. My friends, too, would be proud today that we can speak and be free in such a beautiful palace. I'm proud of my seven grandchildren and that my children can live in a free country.“ I wish our Latvia had only sunny and warm morning, the second hundred. ”
The honesty of the laureates grew emotional and affectionate, as each said a word, shared memories and wishes for Latvia.
Ernest Khalifa: “100 years of Latvia and i'm only ten and a half years younger. I've grown up with Latvia and survived both white and white days, i've worked with Latvia all my life. Thank you for this, Latvia, that you are and will be forever.“ You're going to live in Latvia! ”
Juris Galerijs Vidiņš: “My life is very happy because i was born in an independent Latvia. I am very grateful to all the people of Rēzekne who helped me build the Rēzekne hospital. When i returned to Latvia from Siberia and started studying at the Riga medical institution, there was hope that Latvia will recover its independence. I am happy that this dream is filled. I believe that our Youth will do everything so that we never lose Latvia. '
Andris Eriņš: “I don't regret anything i've done.” I can be proud of my family, with my children just as they are proud of their parents. I can assure you that we will continue Latvia in both the next generations and in our works, because 200 ha of cultivated land and forests, that is our daily work. '
Arthur Gailums: “We've got one big break-we're going to get together and reach only in heavy moments.” I wish Latvia and us every one, so that we can understand and be able to jump in every day. '
