Several paid services will not be offered in the municipality of Rezekne municipality

In the municipality of Rēzekne, the fee services offered to associations of associations (Kaunatas, Nautrēnu, Dricānu, Maltas, Viļānu association) were evaluated at the municipality of Rēzekne, a decision was taken at the meeting of the Rēzekne District Council that there will no longer be paid services in four categories with the 20 April associations:

  • tractor machinery (use of tractor machinery, car rental, truck rental);
  • office services (copying, printing, fax services);
  • the exception of educational institutions' premises (school premises rental and educational institution service hotels) is the needs of educational activities of children/young people, where a merchant will be able to lease service hotel rooms, such as the organisation of camps.
  • Other services (plumber services, sealing of water meters, mowing).

Section 4 of the Local Government Law refers to the functions of the local government. A local government may provide such paid services which comply with the functions specified in the local government law. It should be noted that the municipality does not have to provide paid services which have a negative impact on local business.

We want to draw the attention of citizens, for example, in cases where a citizen will have to copy a death/birth certificate or another important document in the territory of a local government will be able to do so free of charge.

It should be noted that educational establishments are closed-type institutions, so that these premises cannot be used, the exception being the sports facilities of educational institutions which are used to promote healthy lifestyles or sport in the territory of the local government. The sporta will continue to be available for the people of the sport.

“The process has been initiated in the light of both the national control and the competition Council's allegations of the provision of non-commercial services by the municipality, as it appears that the municipality is engaged in business. The local government will give entrepreneurs the opportunity to participate in the auction of various premises, including the lease rights, including temporary periods in order to promote entrepreneurship,” the Chairman of the council OF Rezekne, Monvīds Švarcs, explained at the meeting of the council.

Similarly, the list also includes paid services, which were put forward by representatives of the associations of associations, indicating that the service is no longer offered or there is no demand from the population.

The local government will continue to work on the evaluation of pay services such as a cultural house and a service for the use of the People's House.
