The employees of the municipality of Rezekne take part in the forest days

It's hard to believe that from a fifty-centimetre tiny, fragile planet after many years, a tall pine tree! Such pine forest in a large area on 6 May was also planted in the municipality OF Rēzekne, Maltas parish, a/s “Latvian State Forests” (LVM) in the territory of North Latgale forestry. In the annual forest days, following the initiative of a/s “Latvian State Forests”, the employees of the municipality of Rezekne, the city council of Rezekne, the State Forest Service, the State Environmental Service, the Eastern Latvian concert hall “Gors” and the institutions and organisations participated.
The talkats were welcomed by THE head of THE LVM North Latgale Forestry Region Victor Reblis, while the head of the Rēzekne District, Yevgenius Mikhailov, showed how the trees should be properly planted to be well-rooted, it turns out that it is not so simple. Pine plants are cultivated IN LVM unit “LVM seeds and plants” in Kalsnava tree farm. Although the planting forest area, the clearing was uneven, full of old strains, salts and crises, the work was still smooth, and the trees of the new trees were lined up in the forest. After the work was followed by a joint lunch at LVM Holiday site on the banks of the Lake Sorochka, LVM staff had also considered educational games and competitions.
The forest-day tradition in Latvia started already in the 30 s of the 20 th century, with the Varakalans Forestry Initiative, in the mid-90 s the traditions of forest days were restored and increased public support, restoration of forest plantations, care, the cleaning of forest stands, both students and adults are involved. In this spring, more than 230 forest-day events are planned in Latvia's forests, but a total of 14.6 thousand ha of forest is planned during the year, with 23 million plants being planted. As the LVM website reports, 15 976713 plants are currently planted and this figure is continuously increasing.
