Social employees of Rezekne municipality participate in training “geriatric basics”

LATLIT_logo_LAT_full_RGB From 21 to 22 March, a “geriatric basics” on the health problems of older people, their treatment and care took place in Rezekne as part of the “Senior Social Inclusion” project. The training was also attended by the social workers of Rezekne municipality. The aim of training involving 40 mobile team professionals from Latvia and Lithuania is to identify and evaluate the needs and care problems of geriatric people, taking into account anatomical physiological and psychological changes, disease developments, care and behavioural characteristics. The training is organised in two stages (each of 20 experts), each of which will take place on 28-29 March. Development and organisation of the “geriatric basics” training programme Interreg V-A programme Latvia-Lithuania 2014-2020 project LLI-341 “Aging in Comfort”. The aim of the project is to improve the quality of social services in home care provided by mobile brigades, professional carers, providing home care and medical assistance to older people. The project aims to improve local government social care services and infrastructure through a new approach to home care and self-help measures to ensure comfortable ageing. The project will provide theoretical training, cooperation and exchange of experience of mobile team specialists and a training trip to the Falun region in Sweden. A manual for mobile team employees will be developed and specialised equipment for the provision of mobile brigades is purchased – four specialised vehicles and equipment sets. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to prepare 40 mobile team specialists and improve special equipment for mobile brigades for the provision of social service in 4 districts (Daugavpils, Rezekne, Utena and Moletai) and 1 municipality in local government (Ilūkste) in the border region of Latvia-Lithuania, thus offering home care to the seniors living in the 1300 project territory.
