New manager selected for Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Management
Close Local Authorities of Local Authorities “Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Administration” (hereinafter - Rezekne SEZ the manager of the manager of the manager, and the Supervisory Board of Rezekne SEZ, decided on 4 June to appoint Christ Freiberga as manager.
Christ Freiberga was born and raised in Rezekne. Following the graduation of the State of Rezekne, Krista Freiberga acquired a bachelor degree in 2016 at Riga Law School, graduating the programme “rights and business”. In 2018, she acquired two Master's degrees, graduating from the “RISEBA” School of Business, Art and Technology in “Personnel Management”, obtaining the qualification of the staff manager, and the Rēzekne Technology Academy programme “Law Science”, obtaining the qualification of a lawyer. So far, Christ Freiberga has worked in both private business and commercial and local government. The current work experience is related to the field of trade, the management of staff, the position of a member of the board of directors in the private business sector, and the work project manager in the local government, the City Council of Rezekne.
Aleksejs Stecs, President of the Council of Supervision OF Rezekne SEZ, on the selected candidate: “the successful operation of Rezekne SEZ is an important factor in the development of the whole Latgale region, so that a great responsibility lies with the manager's shoulders. Krista Freiberga is already familiar with the specifics of Rezekne SEZ, implementing projects related to business support and working as co-ordinator in the project implementation project of Rezekne SEZ, which co-operated with Foreign Direct Investment (England) experts. We expect that past experience will serve as a basis for work in the new position. '
Commenting on his motivation to take up the role of Rēzekne SEZ manager, Krista Freiberga explains: “The local authority of the municipalities“ Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Administration ”is an organisation in which i see opportunities for professional growth, and i am convinced that the current knowledge, practice and focus will allow me, as a professional, to develop and contribute to the activities of the institution. As regards future plans, i believe that the main long-term priorities in the management of Rezekne SEZ are developed in industrial areas, efficient management and recognizable image OF Rezekne SEZ at national and international level.
The Commission was chaired by Aleksejs Stecs, President of the Supervisory Council of Rezekne SEZ, which included: Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Council, Elman Pizāne, member of the Supervisory Council, Staņislavs Skesters and member of the Supervisory Council Ilvija Pastare. Alexander Bartachvičs and Chairman OF Rēzekne council Monvīds Švarcs took part in the Commission without voice rights in the Commission.
The Rēzekne SEZ Board is a joint municipal authority under the supervision of the city council of Rezekne and the municipality of Rezekne, the purpose of which is the efficient and efficient management of the Rēzekne special economic zone, promoting trade, developing industry and traffic, and exports and imports of goods through Latvia, attracting investments for the development of production and infrastructure, as well as creating new jobs, promoting the development of the Rēzekne city, Rezekne municipality and the entire Latgale region.
For Rezeknes special economic zone:
Rezekne SEZ was established on 23 April 1997 on the basis of the “Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Act”. This Law prescribes the procedures for the administration and utilisation of Rezekne SEZ, requirements for the performance of commercial activities and investments, as well as the functions and tasks of the Rēzekne SEZ administration.
The Law on the Application of Taxes in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones is laid down in the Law on the Application of Tax Facilities in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones. Rezekne SEZ registered commercial companies may to receive both direct tax discounts (real īpašuma tax, the company income tax on dividends), both also indirect tax relief, creating RSEZ in the area free areas, as also performing investments. Tax relief for Rezekne SEZ will be applicable until 31 December 2035.
The total area of Rezekne SEZ is 1155 ha, which includes the administrative territory of the municipality of Rēzekne and Rēzekne. With Rezekne SEZ commercial companies status In 2021: 19 commercial companies.
