RTU is looking for next generation climate innovators
For a third year, the design factory of Riga Technical University (RTU) invites professionals, companies and organisations of different sectors to apply for membership the world's leading Mobility Programme “Pioneers into Practice 2019” aimed at reducing climate change to acquire new knowledge and bring the world closer to a climate-neutral economy.
Apply for membership until April 11, filling in electronic questionnaire https://pioneers.climate-kic.org/.
“Pioneers into Practice 2019” means the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT) Climate Knowledge and Innovation Community Climate-KIC programme for professionals bringing together industry representatives, small businesses, higher education institutions, science institutes, national and non-governmental institutions. RTU has been a partner OF THE EIT Climate-KIC since 2016.
The programme will extend from May to November by offering professionals in practice and online training to expand knowledge of the impact of climate change, and the systematic approach of innovation, to operate in interdisciplinary teams to develop solutions to the environmental problems of Latvian municipalities, as well as to receive a €2000 scholarship for four to six weeks of practice in September/October in one of the Member States' leading organisations and come into contact with similar minors from across Europe. The training will take place on 24-25 May and 8 June. Climate pioneers will need to address the climate challenges of Riga and Cēsis municipalities this year
Latvian companies and organisations are invited to take into practice the professional professionals of other European countries and, by closing the programme, receive solutions and approaches that can help further action. In 2018, the programme offered institutions such as SIA group 93, Latvenergo, RTU Cēsis branch etc.
This is the third year when THE RTU design factory is implementing the Pioneers into Practice programme in Latvia. In 2018, climate pioners encouraged the use of large data to enable Jelgava to adapt to climate change in a timely manner and to create a special award to promote environmentally friendly small and medium-sized businesses in Valmiera. Both solutions were assessed positively by the municipalities and planned to be implemented. In 2017, the participants of the programme addressed the “Ecodesign Competence Centre” and “Homo ecos:” challenges for the braking of electrical and electronic equipment waste streams and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions in municipalities.

THE RTU design factory houses the best-equipped prototyping workshop, a team of qualified experts and scientific support for entrepreneurs, managers and students to create innovation ideas, high value added products, engineering solutions and search for new working approaches.
