This year Latvian championship in rowling – Rezekne Municipality IN THE centre OF Pušas

From July 9 to July 10, the Latvian championship was held IN Rēzekne District, Pušā. The map covered the area of 195 km2, the optimal distance between all checkpoints, approximately 120 km in the air line. In total, 70 teams were started in 24 h. In an absolute assessment of 96.8 km in the air line and collecting 425 points, the leader ranked “let us win there” (Zigmunds Bibers, Albert Jasans), the second place for the team “Breast Inspectorate” (Miķelis Zumbergs, Guntis Schumukstelis) with 402 points, while in third place, obtaining 395 points, the team “onkuļi” (Einars Masteiko, Jānis Viškers).
The mixed team won a “oak” with 344 points (Christop Tamuge, Aiva Jakovela), followed by “I and my brother,” (Janis Užulis, Anita Užule) – 306 points, bronze team “PL” (Sandis Peterson, Ilva Liepiņa) - 302 points.

In the competition of women's teams, the best year “adventure collectors” (Nora Baranovska, League Petersone) - 289 points, silver “Dzintarx” (Ilze Kremer, Ieva Simsone) with 283 points, bronze team “sea to knee” (Indra Seglina, Ieva Vītolina) with 263 points.

It should be noted that the only member of the Rēzekne municipality, “Nika iz nastuov” (Iveta Linuja and Juris Jurans), showed high performance in the mixed superveterans group – 197 points, obtaining 4 th place in the group. From 3 rd place they were separated by practically only one 10-point checkpoint visit. Experience gained from the start of the World Championship, which will be held in the Czech_Republic on 26-27 August.

“Latgale girls” (vija Uthanne and Olita Poplavska) started the satellite distance at 6 h this time because they had applied for a voluntary competition.

The complicated areas in the free nature of the world were in the darkness of the day when the safest landmarks were particularly challenging, as they were often overgrown with long grass, soda and raspberries... Latgale is the land of blue lakes, but not only in the area covered by the rowling, there were 10 drops, and in seven of them there were checkpoints, but the most surprising surprise for everyone was “hash House”, or a recreational location that had been reconstructed in the courtyard of ancient Latvians in Kroma Mountain.

The most km of GPS data gathered “let us win there” - 128 km. The first 12-hour championship's favorites were the Estonian team “Õnnevalem”, who was lost after a severe mistake at night and a slower pace in the morning of the morning (at 4 th in the overall assessment, IN THE MV group, second). More than an hour before the checklist had been completed by 21 teams, but only 2 teams were late in the checklist, including 2 nd place winners “Breast Inspectorate”, so the viewers had the opportunity to observe a proper finish spill after 24 hours of time!

The woodstrawberries were eagerly eaten by everyone who had no laziness to bend. In two teams, the 24 h challenge was also adopted by children - the youngest of them 10 years - for a few hours of night, they both devoted to sleep at the centre of competition. It was over 80 years ago, but it did not interfere with 53 kilometres of gold medals in THE WUV group to arrive at a smooth pace!  Results, picture gallery, map, GPS paths

The Latvian championship was organized by the highly experienced “OK North Kurzeme” team in collaboration with the Latvian-based Federation, with the prizes provided by Maxima, the water in finish was provided by Akvile/Vytautas, while the isotonic drink “hash House” was offered BY OSHEE.

The Federation of Latvian Orientation says much thanks to all the volunteers who put out and cleared the checkpoints, set up the competition centre, waited and accompanied the participants, boiled the porridge and coffee for breakfast, and landed on the “hash House” all night.
