Successful implementation of the youth initiative project “The pleasure of being in nature”
The association “SEDNA” in collaboration with J.Soikāns Ludza Art School Nautrēnu Branch and Nautrēnu High School successfully implemented the youth initiative project “pleasure to be natural”. As part of the project, informal activities took place “to know the environment and form itself”, during which young people, under the direction of Maija Gailumas, gathered various natural materials, formed five different visual art objects and placed them in the exhibition. The young people were involved in the renovation of Peter Gailuma's ceramic workshop and burned his own works. During creative work, the participants met the surrounding nature and the available resources from a new viewpoint, discussing their ability to work together, creating a neighborhood for themselves.
The masterpiece “built their surroundings”, during which young people presented visually plastic objects sketches and work. The landscape architects, under the direction of Ramona Vucanes, learned the basic elements of the composition of the composition, formed the mandals from various natural materials around them, decorated large stones, and discussed the principles and possibilities of setting up the environment together. At the time of the culinary masterpiece “natural delicacy for everyone”, along with Alaon Pavlov in small groups, they prepared a variety of food from local food and presented their own cooked food. During the masterclass, the daily opportunities to eat healthy and flavour were discussed with young people. Together, ideas were generated how to prepare a variety of foods to be healthy.
The informal education trip “natural delicacy for everyone” was one of the project's adventures. Young people engaged in various interactive and educational activities, recognized Latvia's nature from new viewpoints and educated. The participants visited Andrew's buds museum in Lieldice and improvised, feeling the heroic roles of Lāčplēsis. The Latvian Natural Museum was dedicated to volcanoes, where young people took part in experiment and experienced volcanic eruption. The participants visited the Law Gardens where both the group and individual tasks had to be performed at each facility. The young people admitted that the journey was very saturated, during one day there was an opportunity to visit inspiring places, creative and practical work, learn more about nature and show their own initiative.
Several project presentation events took place, with participants viewing the video presentation of the youth working group on activities, visually plastic works. The events included Nautrēnu secondary school students 1-5. Each member of the presentation was able to create an interesting class decoration using a description of the tasks created by young people. A poster was created for the anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia.
At the end of October, the final event of the project was held in the Horn of Horse. At first, the participants were going to ride horses, during which they could see the surroundings of the horse, see how the autumn had colored the woods and felt no positive emotions. For all young people, it was the first time they took part, most of whom were afraid of horses. The participants then engaged in the game “more than words”, discussed activities and benefits from participation in the project. Each young man was given a attestation and a thank-you prize.
The project helped young people to discover themselves and their strengths, to develop and develop different skills and competences, to operate creative and to spend their free time.
Thank you very much for all young people who participated in the project, experts on the work done and Nautrēnu for high school director Anita Ludborg on support and successful cooperation. The project became an unforgettable adventure for both young people and the team.
