History Museum of Malta

The Museum was founded in 1991 as a structural unit of the Malta parish municipality. As a result of the administrative-territorial reform, Malta parish was included in Rēzekne region, and since 2010 the Museum has been operating as a structural unit of the Malta parish administration. Since 2004, the Museum has been located in a building built in the 1950s for the needs of a kindergarten with an adjacent territory of 0.2 ha.

You don't have to travel to the Mediterranean to see the rich cultural heritage of the island of Malta. The Malta History Museum in the Rēzekne region offers a unique historical heritage - tangible and intangible values ​​created by previous generations and newly created by the era, creating appropriate collections, exhibitions and educational events.

The museum offers a main exhibition, "Malta at the crossroads of roads and events in historical photo moments", two open collection exhibitions, "Paintings and ceramics of locals" and "Household items of the inhabitants of Malta parish" - in a room decorated in a style typical of the 1930s–1960s.
The main exhibition, "Malta at the Crossroads of Roads and Events in Photographic Moments of History," is designed as a concentrated look through the prism of a photographic lens at themes characterizing the history of Malta.
Outdoor exhibition "Horse-drawn carriages and their accessories".

We invite you to visit the graphic design workshop at the Malta History Museum.

Every visitor to the graphics workshop has the opportunity to step into the role of an artist - graphic artist and create a unique souvenir using the linocut technique on paper with accents characterizing the history of Malta.

Graphic artist Jana Indričāne offers workshop for groups of students and adults, as well as individual museum visitors. The workshop's duration 1–1.5 hours. Graphic workshop: 3.61 EUR.

Excursion outside the museum premises 1.00 EUR/person.
For preschool children, students of educational institutions in the Rēzekne region, persons with disabilities, orphans and children left without parental care, holders of the “Honorary Family” certificate: free of charge.
