St.Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Dukstigal

The church has been demolished and rebuilt several times. The current church was built in 1947 under the leadership of Reverend Ludvigs Krumpāns.
Until 1960, there were two parishes in Dukstigala: Baltais Dukstigalas (Šadurska) and Melnais Dukstigalas (Slobodska). The church in Baltais Dukstigalas was built in 1775. This church was forcibly demolished during the Soviet period in 1960, despite the fact that this building was an architectural monument - the oldest wooden church in Latgale (367 years old). The motivation for this action was that there should not be two churches in one parish, now there is only one church in Dukstigalas parish.
The first wooden church in Black Dukstigal was built in 1776 and named in honor of the Holy Trinity. During the First World War, the church burned down. This church was completely renovated in 1827. After the First World War, in 1922, Reverend Gabris began building a new wooden church in place of the old one, but during the Second World War, this church also burned down.
The current church was built in 1947 under the leadership of Reverend Ludvigs Krumpāns. First, he bought a small house with money donated by the congregation, demolished it, and transported all the materials to Melnais Dukstigals, where he built a new building on the foundations of the burned-down church.

In 1964, the White Dukstigal parish was moved to the Black Dukstigal parish. The Black Dukstigal (now simply Dukstigal) church is in the Rēzekne deanery.
