Štikāni Old Believers' Church

The Old Believer congregation in Štikāni was founded in 1700, when most of the villagers had the surname Štikāni. The first prayer house was built on the bank of a small river. It was a small wooden masterpiece. One night, due to the careless actions of people who left lit candles, the church burned down. However, after some time (in the 1940s), the construction of a new house on the old foundation was organized. This house was built by brothers Uljans and Epifan Rogozins. The church of the Štikāni Old Believer congregation has suffered from the actions of thieves and vandals more than once. (Platpire, 2006)
