Sv. Hertangel Mikelel Church of Zosna

Brief description: The wooden building on a stone foundation was built in 1800 with public donations and is dedicated to the Archangel Saint Michael. The building is clad in planks; in front is a small square tower, which was renovated in 1994.

In 1882, a capital repair was carried out in the church, so that the church became 5 m long and the tower is on the building where located in the choir rooms.

The church has 3 altars: the main altar has a painting of St. Michael the Archangel, the side altars have paintings of St. Anthony and the Virgin Mary. The church also has paintings and a crucifix that are 50 years older than the church itself. The most famous is the altar painting “Madonna with Child”. Throughout the years of the church’s existence, there was a very old metal crucifix in the sacristy, which was usually used in processions, it was about 300 years old. But in 1993, the church was looted and the crucifix was also stolen. The Zosna Catholic Church was founded in 1921, which arose by separating part of the territory from the Dukstigala parish and adding 5 villages from the Puša parish. The Zosna Catholic Church owns the Mayor’s Cemetery, its origins can be traced back to the plague epidemic, from which the name came. (Cakuls, 1997)
