Environmental installations “Oduma meitys” (Ādama meitas) un “Latgales Atlanti”

Ints Pujāts' interest in environmental objects arose under the influence of his father, who during his life tried to make the surrounding environment interesting. By creating special environmental objects, finding a special power of attraction in ordinary stones, digging ponds and changing the surrounding terrain. “Oduma meitys” The inspiration for the idea of ​​"Oduma meitys" came from an old Adamova Lake tale, which tells of sisters who helped their brother not get lost in the world, searching for happiness.

Ints says: “The legend says that on dark and rainy nights, the sisters had to take a piece of the Moon in their hands, climb to the top of the highest mountain that towers over the lake, and hold the bright sliver of the moon above their heads so that it would shine brightly and their brother would find his way back.” The shape and design of the sculptures harmonize with the surrounding environment. Both sculptures are made of pine and spruce, making the surroundings of Adamova Lake more interesting.

Deep respect for one’s native region can be expressed in countless emotional or practical ways that instantly generate a positive impact across broader society, conveying a message within the context of Latvia as a whole. Thus, alongside the environmental installation "Oduma meitys" (Odums’ Daughters), one can see another installation: the "Atlases of Latgale"—guardians of homes and the heavens—featuring large-scale wooden sculptures at the entrance. These figures weave together Greek, Chinese, and Latgalian legends regarding the role of guardians, yet the scale and expressiveness of the figures will evoke unique impressions in every viewer. In truth, these Atlases hold up the heavens on their shoulders, and as long as they continue to do so, Latgale will endure. Such is the message, and we shall believe in it. Latgales Atlanti

The author and financier of the idea for the environmental object “Oduma meitys” is architect Ints Pujāts, wood sculptor Juris Upenieks participated in the creation of the environmental object, and the project was implemented by the project manager Didzis Petrovs and the transport manager Jānis Ančupāns.
