Calls for a visit to the open doors of passive buildings

For a third year, SIA “Environmental Investment Fund” organises the opening day of the passive houses in Latvia. Throughout the world, during the first weekend of November, the owners of passive houses open their doors to share experience, while stakeholders would have the opportunity to see them. From 7 to 9 November, stakeholders are invited to participate and meet more information and viewing sites and to apply for their visits in time.
In the passive home, “extremism” energy efficiency is not only a possibility but a fact. In their passive private houses, residents consume approximately 10% of how much the normal house or building needs to consume heat and ventilation. Passive houses consume up to 90% less energy for heating and cooling than normal buildings. Any additional capital investment in the construction phase is compensated for only over a few years, thus operating costs are extremely low. Due to the efficient insulation and ventilation system equipped with heat recovery, passive houses may be provided with minimal heating in our climatic conditions. With the existing level of efficiency, the passive home standard already meets and fulfils the requirements of the Specific 2020 European Buildings Directive, which stipulates that the standard of passive houses for all new buildings is mandatory.
On Open Door Day 7 November from 10.00 to 16.00 is also invited by Rēzekne High School and Tiskad Special Inboarding School. Address: Park Street 4, Rwanda c., Silmalas civil parish, Rezekne municipality, LV-4636. Contacts: for a visit to the High School Director Olgai Misevičai, mob. tel. 29193961, or by e-mail: tiskadi@saskarsme.lv.
