Seminar on the opening of the natural gas market to households

By 2019, households have been given the possibility to buy natural gas from a public trader at a regulated price, but then the situation will change, so it is important for consumers to understand that the price of natural gas is emerging as a result of competition. Natural gas prices depend on the conditions of the natural gas supply contracts agreed by each natural gas trader with suppliers or producers. The price of natural gas is often linked to the price of oil products, thus changing the prices of natural gas according to changes in the oil product market.
In order to inform consumers about the opportunities offered by the open natural gas market and to explain the processes that are in progress, the Latvian Consumer Interests Association (PIAA), with the support of the European Commission representative in Latvia, is implementing a series of informative seminars. During the seminars, citizens will be able to get answers to important questions about the use of natural gas. This information will be particularly useful for households using natural gas in heating.
Seminar in Rezekne will take place this year 30 August at 13:00, Rēzekne municipality council in the big hall, release alley 95A, Rezekne. The seminar is organised in cooperation with the information support of the Europe Direct Information Centre in Rezekne.
Representatives of the Ministry of Economics, public service regulation Commission and distribution system operator “Gaso” are invited to participate in the seminar. Representatives of the Rēzekne municipality council are also invited to participate.
In autumn, regional seminars are planned in Jelgava, Cēsis and Riga.
