Calls for a seminar on the use of peat in heat production

The use of peat as a continuously accessible energy resource in energy is one way to reduce the high energy dependence of the country and to manage it financially and economically. Therefore, all stakeholders are invited to attend a free seminar “technical and financial considerations for the use of peat in heat production”. The seminar will be held on 13 February 2015 at 10:00, Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Riga, Kr. Valdemara Street 35.
The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, stressed in particular the importance of a sustainable energy Union with a forward-looking climate change policy. The current geopolitical events make everyone remember that Europe is too dependent on fuel and gas imports. It is therefore necessary to reform and reorganise the European energy policy by transforming it into a new European energy Union. It is necessary to combine their own resources, infrastructure and negotiating capacity with third countries, diversifying energy sources in EU countries and reducing the high energy dependency of several Member States.
The seminar rapporteurs discuss the use of peat in heat production in neighbouring countries in Lithuania and Estonia, as well as on the trials of peat burning in various boiler houses in Latvia – their benefits, problems, solutions and opportunities. There will also be an opportunity to clarify the regulations in Estonia relating to the use of peat in energy.
To log in to a seminar, please fill in the login questionnaire: the application form.
